AnswerXpress® users have the option of remaining anonymous during their live session with a librarian. For more information about what we request and why, read below:
Name: A name is required but you may use just a first name and it may be an alias.
Email Address: If you want to receive a copy of your session transcript or have us send information after the session you must provide an email address You can, however, view your transcript online without giving an email address. You will receive a code and URL to access your transcript after the session ends and it will be available for 14 days.
Zip Code: We do not restrict access to this service based on geographic location. However, for purposes of statistic collection and analysis, we do require a zip code. This information is not used in connection with other information you provide.
Library Affiliation: While this information is not required it allows us to collect data for later analysis and tailor our service to our user population.
Records Retention: We receive copies of all session transcripts. These transcripts may be used for quality control and training purposes. After 35 days these transcripts are stripped of personal information (name, email, IP address) you submitted. By logging in anonymously your name and email will not appear in our transcripts. After being stripped, records are held a minimum of 1 year. These records are used only for statistical analysis.
